Independence Day

Every time I talk to someone about India's Independence Day, the chat ends up being very cynical. We talk about how the country is so corrupt, how the fight the martyrs put up is completely lost on us and how nothing's ever gonna change in our motherland.
But I feel like we have done far better than most nations in the world. We are not exactly the United States of America but we leave countries like Egypt far behind in this race. At least our problems are of the "current" world.
I can't imagine being born in a place where someone else decided if you had the right to live. I sympathize with people who are still struggling for freedom. I hope that, one day, you find what you are looking for. And you may not end up with a picture perfect nation half a century later but it will still be a better place to live in.
